PHNOM PENH — March 18, 2026: A new Cambodia–China tourist debit card and cross-border payment service has been launched to enhance convenience for Cambodian, Chinese, and international visitors traveling in Cambodia.
The initiative was inaugurated at a ceremony presided over by Tourism Minister Huot Hak, with participation from representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Bank of China, the National Bank of Cambodia, and stakeholders from the tourism, finance, and private sectors. The event was held at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh.
The new service enables seamless cross-border transactions through QR payment systems, allowing tourists to make payments more easily while in Cambodia. He also expressed appreciation for continued cooperation from Chinese partners in supporting Cambodia’s tourism development and attracting more Chinese and international visitors in 2026, in line with the Cambodia–China Tourism Year campaign.
He further highlighted that ensuring safety and security for international tourists and business travelers remains a top priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
