Cambodia and India Stand Ready for Defence Strengthening Co-operation

PHNOM PENH, June 30, 2026 – Cambodia and India have expressed their mutual readiness to advance defence collaboration, following a high-level meeting between senior military officials at the Cambodia High Command Headquarters.

H.E. General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, held talks on June 30 with Colonel Adhishek Arora, India's newly appointed Defence Attaché. The discussion focused on expanding the scope of bilateral military engagement and building on the success of recent joint initiatives.

H.E. General Vong Pisen acknowledged India's longstanding support in training Cambodian military personnel and highlighted the positive outcomes of the second Cambodia-India joint military exercise, CINBAX-II, conducted earlier this year. He called for deeper cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, disaster response, peacekeeping operations, and maritime security.

Colonel Arora assured that India is prepared to assist Cambodia in strengthening its defence capabilities, including through the transfer of technology and supply of modern equipment such as mine clearance tools and surveillance drones. He emphasized India's commitment to being a reliable partner in Cambodia's defence development.

Both sides welcomed the growing defence ties between the two nations and reaffirmed their shared dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
