PHNOM PENH, July 3, 2026 – Singapore's Ambassador to Cambodia has expressed interest in prioritising the import of Cambodian safe vegetables and fruits, following a working discussion on the potential of Cambodia's agro-processing industry.

On July 2, H.E. Steven Pang Chee Wee, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, met with H.E. Dr. Kao Thach, Delegate of the Royal Government and CEO of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), at ARDB headquarters to discuss boosting agricultural exports to Singapore.

Dr. Kao Thach provided an update on Cambodia's agro-processing industry, focusing on five strategic crops: rice, cashew nuts, cassava, red corn, and mangoes. He emphasised the potential for investment in agro-processing, noting that Cambodia currently has sufficient production capacity to supply these strategic crops for export-oriented processing enterprises.

The ARDB CEO also shared information on the value chains of these five strategic crops, as well as safe vegetables grown in net houses and fruits, and ARDB's role in supporting both upstream and downstream agricultural production.

Ambassador Steven Pang Chee Wee expressed positive interest in exploring opportunities to boost Cambodia's agro-processing industry and promote agricultural exports to Singapore. As a first step, safe vegetables and fruits will be prioritised, as their standard controls are less complex compared to meat and aquaculture products.
