Cambodia, China Vow to Strengthen Media Ties After Global South Training

PHNOM PENH, July 6, 2026 – Cambodian and Chinese officials have pledged to strengthen media cooperation following the successful conclusion of a 14-day training workshop for information officials and journalists from Global South countries, held in China.

The closing ceremony took place on July 6 in Beijing, attended by Mr. He Dongbo, Deputy Chairman of the Party Committee and Vice President of CBIC, who emphasized the workshop's role in deepening understanding of China's media modernization and fostering international collaboration.

Mr. Chhoun Chanpharun, Deputy Director General of the Information and Audiovisual Department, represented Cambodian participants. He expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government and organizers for the valuable opportunity and warm hospitality, noting that the workshop provided knowledge and experience in China's rapidly developing media industry, including digital systems, AI technology, and professional media management.

Participants visited Beijing and Yinchuan, where they studied China's development experience, explored ecological achievements at Baiji National Park, and observed poverty alleviation successes in Minning. They also toured Zhuse Technology and Lingji Digital Technology to learn about technology-driven industry development, and engaged in discussions on media development at Ningxia Television Station.

The delegation also visited ZOOXER TECH to explore AI-driven automated camera technology, the Beijing Langyuan Station to observe the transformation of a former textile warehouse into a modern AIGC center, as well as the Great Wall and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to explore China's rich cultural and historical heritage.

Both sides expressed commitment to continued collaboration in media development, information sharing, and professional capacity building, strengthening ties between China and Global South countries.
