PM Hun Manet Meets Sinopec President to Boost Energy Investment in Cambodia
BEIJING, July 17, 2026 – Prime Minister Hun Manet has met with the president of Sinopec, one of the world's largest energy and petrochemical corporations, to discuss expanding investment opportunities and cooperation in Cambodia's energy and industrial sectors.
The meeting took place on the morning of July 17 during the Prime Minister's working visit to China. H.E. Hun Manet held talks with Mr. Qian Zhenhua, President of Sinopec (China) and CamTIPA, focusing on energy sector development and industrial cooperation.
Sinopec, headquartered in Beijing, is a global energy giant with extensive experience in oil and natural gas exploration and production, oil refining, pipeline transportation, petrochemical production, and fuel station network management.
The meeting is seen as part of the Royal Government's ongoing efforts to attract major Chinese investors to Cambodia, as the Kingdom pushes forward with modernising its energy sector, industry, infrastructure, and logistics to support long-term economic growth.
Economists view increased engagement with world-class energy companies like Sinopec as an opportunity for Cambodia to attract investment, modern technology, and knowledge transfer in the energy sector, while creating jobs and strengthening energy security. It could also contribute to the development of clean energy and efficient resource use, aligning with Cambodia's sustainable development goals.
No specific investment projects or agreements have been announced, but the meeting is considered a positive signal that could open doors for future cooperation and investment opportunities.
