Two Cambodian Drug Analysts Praised by China After Completing Forensic Training

PHNOM PENH, July 17, 2026 – Two Cambodian forensic experts have been commended by Chinese authorities after successfully completing an intensive training course on drug analysis techniques in Zhejiang Province, China.

Lieutenant Colonel Yim Vannak, Deputy Head of the Cambodian Drug Laboratory, and Second Lieutenant Heng Lika, an officer at the same laboratory, received their completion certificates on July 16 after passing the final examinations with outstanding results.

The training programme focused on qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques for narcotics, chemical compounds, unidentified substances, and biological samples such as hair and urine—critical knowledge for forensic work and international-standard drug enforcement.

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Zhang Hongjian, Director of the National Anti-Drug Laboratory at the Zhejiang Regional Centre, praised the two Cambodian experts for their dedication and commitment throughout the training. He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills gained would be valuable assets for Cambodia's drug laboratory capacity and forensic development.

Dr. Zhang also emphasised that the programme not only strengthens the capacity of Cambodian experts but also serves as a foundation for deeper cooperation between Cambodia and China in drug forensics through continued knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and modern technology transfer.
