Anutin Vows to Sue iLaw Director Over Senate Vote-Buying Allegations, Rejects Settlement

PHNOM PENH, July 22, 2026 – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has announced he will proceed with a defamation lawsuit against iLaw director Yingcheep Atchanont over allegations linking him and Bhumjaithai Party figures to the Senate election collusion case, insisting there will be no settlement.

Anutin said accusations must be backed by evidence and denied any involvement in the ongoing investigation. He suggested Yingcheep's comments were politically motivated and intended to prevent Bhumjaithai from succeeding.

"I didn't do anything wrong, so why should I be worried?" Anutin said, adding that everyone must be responsible for what they say.

The defamation threat comes after iLaw submitted evidence on July 21 implicating nine ministers and MPs, including Anutin, in an alleged vote-buying scheme during the Senate elections. The opposition has pledged to investigate the matter thoroughly.
