Cambodia and US Deepen Defence Ties at 4th Policy Dialogue in Washington

PHNOM PENH, July 23, 2026 – Cambodia and the United States have taken another step forward in their defence partnership, as senior officials from both nations held the 4th Defense Policy Dialogue at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

The Cambodian delegation was led by H.E. Lieutenant General Rath Dararoth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defence, who was received by Ms. Lori D. Abele, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for South and Southeast Asia, on July 22.

The dialogue provided a platform for both sides to exchange views on expanding bilateral defence cooperation in areas such as joint military exercises, capacity building, professional military education, and training programmes.

H.E. Lieutenant General Rath Dararoth also updated the U.S. side on the evolving situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border and expressed appreciation for Washington's continued interest and constructive role in supporting regional stability.

The meeting underscored the growing defence relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to regional peace and security.
