Phnom Penh, March 20, 2026 — Cambodia is set to develop luxury agarwood-based souvenirs to enhance its appeal to Muslim tourists, according to officials.

The plan was discussed during a March 19 meeting between Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak and Oknha Dr. Nang Sothy, Chairman of THY HOLDING CO., LTD., who presented a project to transform agarwood into high-end souvenirs, including perfumes and cosmetics.

The initiative also includes plans to establish luxury souvenir shops in Cambodia and expand into agro-tourism in the future, according to the company.

H.E. Huot Hak welcomed the investment, stating that it aligns with the Ministry of Tourism’s Muslim Tourism Development Plan 2023–2027. He noted ongoing efforts to promote halal food and Cambodia’s “Muslim Friendly” standards in cooperation with relevant ministries.

The Minister added that the project would add value to the tourism sector and help attract more Muslim visitors, according to officials.
