Australia and Cambodia Grow Dairy Industry Together as More Cows Arrive

PHNOM PENH, July 26, 2026 – Another 220 Australian Holstein cows have arrived in Cambodia to help expand the Kingdom's growing dairy industry, as Australia continues to support the development of local milk production.

Six years ago, 550 Australian Holstein cows first arrived in Cambodia to help establish Kirisu Farm, the country's first large-scale commercial dairy farm. The new arrival brings the Kirisu herd to approximately 1,400 cows.

The expansion was made possible through support from Australia's economic development program CAPRED. Australian Ambassador Derek Yip visited Kirisu Farm in Takeo province on July 25 to welcome the new heifers.

With more cows now producing milk locally, Cambodia can meet growing demand, reduce reliance on imports, and create jobs and new opportunities across the dairy value chain.

The partnership with Kirisu is a strong example of how Australia and Cambodia are working together to grow new industries, expand trade, boost food security, and create a healthier, more prosperous Cambodia.
