Cambodia, Belgium Discuss Digital Cooperation, Francophonie Summit Preparations

PHNOM PENH, August 6, 2026 – Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth received Belgian Ambassador Michel Parys at the ministry's headquarters on Wednesday afternoon for a courtesy meeting that touched on digital cooperation, human resource development, and preparations for upcoming international events.

Ambassador Parys expressed admiration for Cambodia's recent achievements, including the new Techo International Airport, which he described as outstanding and aesthetically impressive.

The two sides discussed Cambodia's role as host of the 20th Francophonie Summit and the accompanying FrancoTech event in 2026. Minister Chea Vandeth also provided an update on the progress of Cambodia's verify platform and outlined plans to share it with partner countries.

Additionally, the minister and ambassador explored cooperation in training human resources in advanced digital technology. They proposed establishing a direct partnership between the Cambodia Digital Technology Academy, under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and universities in Belgium, focusing on workforce training and professor exchange programs.
