The ASEAN Observer Team Visits Bombed Health Centre in Preah Vihear

PHNOM PENH, August 11, 2026 – The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) visited the Techo Morakoth Health Centre in Preah Vihear province on Tuesday to verify the condition of the facility, which was attacked by Thai forces in December 2025, according to the Ministry of National Defence.
The field visit, coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group at 9:30 AM, was led by the Head of Mission from the Philippines. The ministry stressed that the site is a public healthcare facility, not a military installation.
In December 2025, the health centre was struck by Thai F-16 fighter jets, 155mm artillery, cluster munitions, and drones, causing severe damage to the building and surrounding infrastructure.
Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the December 27, 2025 Joint Statement of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee and the October 26, 2025 Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement, aiming to restore normalcy and ensure lasting peace.
