Cambodia Outlines Benefits for Fallen, Deceased, and Disabled Soldiers

PHNOM PENH, August 13, 2026 – Military personnel killed, deceased, or disabled while serving the nation are entitled to a structured benefits package, including posthumous rank upgrades and pension equivalents, under Article 18 of Cambodia's military regulations.

The policy distinguishes between combat-related and non-combat cases, ensuring that soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice or suffer life-altering injuries receive government recognition and financial support.

Killed or Deceased in Service

Soldiers who are killed or die while performing their duties—whether in combat, training, or routine assignments—are entitled to benefits equivalent to those of a professional soldier who has died in service, with a posthumous rank of Second Lieutenant.

Disabled in Combat or Hazardous Duty

Those who become disabled due to combat, combat support, hazardous training, dangerous experiments, or natural disasters qualify for benefits equivalent to a Category "A" disabled professional soldier, also with the rank of Second Lieutenant.

Disabled in Regular Duty Zones

Soldiers who become disabled while assigned to regular duty zones—outside combat or high-risk environments—are entitled to benefits equivalent to a Category "B" disabled professional soldier.

The policy reflects the government's commitment to supporting those who sacrifice their health or lives in service to the nation, ensuring they and their families receive due recognition and financial security.
