Cambodia-Vietnam Defence Dialogue Seeks to Deepen Bilateral Military Ties

PHNOM PENH, August 13, 2026 – Senior defence officials from Cambodia and Vietnam met in Phnom Penh on Wednesday for the 9th Deputy Minister-Level Defence Policy Dialogue, a forum aimed at strengthening military cooperation and addressing shared security concerns.

The meeting was co-chaired by Cambodia's Secretary of State Lieutenant General Khieu Chhen and Vietnam's Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang at the Ministry of National Defence.

The dialogue provided an opportunity for both sides to review the progress of bilateral defence cooperation, exchange perspectives on regional security dynamics, and identify new areas for collaboration.

The regular engagement reflects the two countries' shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability along their border and across the broader region, while building mutual trust and understanding between their armed forces.
