Cambodia Advances National School Feeding Programme with Multi-Sectoral Consultation

PHNOM PENH, August 17, 2026 – Cambodia is taking another step toward strengthening its nationally owned school feeding programme, as government ministries, institutions, and development partners convened for a second inter-ministerial and multi-sectoral consultation to advance the School Meals Accelerator (SMA) initiative.

The consultation brought together expertise from the education, agriculture, health, nutrition, and social protection sectors to validate national priorities and strengthen Cambodia's SMA application. These efforts aim to reinforce the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme and accelerate progress toward sustainable school meals systems that improve children's nutrition and learning outcomes.
The initiative builds on Cambodia's recent engagement with the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
The World Food Programme (WFP) is supporting the Royal Government of Cambodia by convening partners, strengthening multi-sectoral collaboration, and facilitating Cambodia's participation in global initiatives that promote nationally owned solutions for children.
