Russia Ready to Sell Oil to Thailand – Thai FM

Bangkok, March 2026 – Sihasak Phuangketkeow said Russia is prepared to sell oil to Thailand as the Southeast Asian nation seeks alternative energy supplies amid uncertainty in global fuel markets.

According to The Nation Thailand, Sihasak said the Thai government currently holds oil reserves that could last 95 to 100 days, but the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has made the energy outlook highly unpredictable.

Speaking while traveling to Vienna to attend the Global Fraud Summit at the Vienna International Centre on March 16–17, 2026, the Thai foreign minister said the government is working to identify new sources of oil supply. He noted that Russia has indicated its willingness to sell oil to Thailand.

Sihasak added that Thailand has also reached out to several other potential suppliers, including Brazil, Nigeria and Kazakhstan, while the United States has reportedly relaxed certain sanctions allowing vessels departing ports to sell oil to other countries.

The Thai foreign minister said relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Energy, will continue detailed discussions to secure stable fuel supplies for the country.
