“Vishnu’s Cosmic Ocean” Showcased in Washington, Highlighting Cambodia’s Cultural Heritage
Phnom Penh, March 27, 2026 — A remarkable Cambodian sculpture, “Vishnu’s Cosmic Ocean,” is now on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, D.C., marking a significant moment in cultural exchange between Cambodia and the United States.
The large-scale sculpture, on loan from the National Museum of Cambodia, is a centerpiece of a Southeast Asian exhibition that showcases the richness and depth of Cambodia’s artistic heritage.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, highlighting ongoing cultural cooperation between the two nations.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, the exhibition offers visitors in Washington, D.C. a rare opportunity to experience an important piece of Cambodian history. The display will run until September 7, 2026, reflecting decades of cultural partnership between Cambodia and the United States.
