Legacy of Peace: Over 1,500 BELTEI Students Celebrate History and Heritage at Win-Win Memorial

PHNOM PENH – In a powerful display of national pride and historical reflection, a massive delegation of more than 1,500 students and educators from BELTEI International School converged on the Win-Win Memorial this week. The visit, which took place on March 31, 2026, served as both a deep dive into Cambodia’s quest for peace and a vibrant celebration of the upcoming Khmer New Year.
The second day of the school’s educational tour was marked by an atmosphere of high energy and academic curiosity. Grade 12 and English General Education students were greeted with a warm reception by General Nem Sowath, Chairman of the Win-Win Memorial Working Group, and Lieutenant General Nem Sowathey, Director of the Sena Techo Unit. In a gesture that bridged the gap between leadership and the next generation, the officials joined students on the memorial grounds to participate in traditional Khmer games, fostering a spirit of solidarity ahead of the national holidays.
Beyond the festivities, the visit offered a rigorous historical curriculum. Guided by the experts of the Sena Techo Unit, students explored the intricate bas-reliefs and the Techo Peace Museum, which document the pivotal "Win-Win Policy" that brought an end to decades of civil war. The presentation specifically highlighted the 1977 liberation journey and the 1996 policy framework spearheaded by Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
For the graduating students, the experience was described as a transformative lesson in political science and national identity. By examining the artifacts and inscriptions firsthand, the delegation gained a clearer understanding of the strategic sacrifices required to achieve the current era of stability.
The event concluded with a shared sense of gratitude, as students expressed a renewed commitment to preserving the peace that the Win-Win Memorial stands to honor.
As the nation prepares for the traditional New Year, the sight of over 1,500 youth engaging with their history serves as a poignant reminder of Cambodia's enduring resilience.
