“Study Hard for Opportunities Ahead,” Russian Cultural Director Tells Cambodian Children

Siem Reap: Irina Tsatsulina, Director of the Russian Center of Science & Culture in Phnom Penh, delivered an encouraging message to nearly 400 children during a visit to the Teuk Vil Community Training Center on April 1, 2026, emphasizing the importance of education as a pathway to future opportunities.

Speaking in a warm and supportive tone, she described children and youth as the foundation of the nation’s future, noting that consistent effort in education can open doors to meaningful personal and professional development.

She urged students to remain committed to their studies, prepare for national examinations, and keep their aspirations for higher education within reach. She added that many Cambodian students in previous decades, particularly since the 1980s, have pursued studies abroad and gone on to build careers as doctors, engineers, and pilots, illustrating the long-term value of educational opportunities.

She also highlighted upcoming opportunities, stating that Russia is expected to provide between 40 and 60 scholarships for Cambodian students and civil servants for the 2026–2027 academic year. These scholarships are anticipated to cover more than 500 fields of study, including medicine, aviation engineering, nuclear science, and political studies, offering a broad range of academic and professional pathways.

The Russian Center of Science & Culture in Phnom Penh continues to serve as an open space for individuals of all ages interested in learning the Russian language and exploring its culture. Through the visit, Irina Tsatsulina expressed hope that Cambodian children, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, will be inspired to pursue their education with confidence and determination, using knowledge as a means to improve their lives and contribute to the country’s development.
