Ministry of the Royal Palace: His Majesty the King to Undergo Surgery in Beijing

PHNOM PENH, April 18, 2026 — The Ministry of the Royal Palace has announced that His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, is currently under close medical observation by a team of specialists at a hospital in Beijing.

According to an official statement released on Saturday, medical experts have recommended that His Majesty undergo surgery as part of his ongoing treatment and healthcare plan.

His Majesty has granted approval for the procedure, which is scheduled to take place today, April 18, 2026, at the Beijing hospital.

Following the surgery, His Majesty will remain in Beijing for a period of recovery and continued medical supervision, in line with the advice of his physicians.

The statement further noted that His Majesty and Her Majesty Norodom Monineath Sihanouk will return to the Kingdom of Cambodia once His Majesty’s health has improved and he receives medical clearance from the attending specialists.
